dualsetters Posted May 26, 2012 Report Share Posted May 26, 2012 We found these today on aspen, kind of orangish and fuzzy. I put these up last week, but I don't think anyone saw them. They looked like oysters a bit, but had stems, the gills stopped at the stem, were on either red oak or wild cherry ( Im not sure), and smelled like store bought mushrooms. Dave W Posted May 27, 2012 Report Share Posted May 27, 2012 I think those hairy ones may be Panus rudis (name used in Audubon). Lentinus strigosus is a synonym. The second group of photos look like Oysters, Pleurotus species. But that one specimen does have an unusually long stalk for an Oyster.
