Chanterelles

Recommended Posts

The ones formerly called Cantharellus cibarius --with well formed "pseudo-gills"-- should be out in the Catskills now, or at least real soon. These have been out in the Binghamton area for about a week. The Smooth Chanterelles (C. lateritius) have just barely started here in NE PA, so it may be another week before this type appears in the Catskills. Amount/frequency of rainfall and temperature are key.

I'm finding few cinnabars in long Island and Westchester, but still they made appearance. Haven't seen any  cibarius or smooth chanties yet.
