diana
Hi, my name is Diana. I live just outside of Tampa. We have a wonderful treed lot with many mushrooms popping up. I am very much a novice. Only just discovered that not all mushrooms have gills. I did find some oyster mushrooms last fall growing on a log and promptly cooked them for dinner. I do realize that that was not a smart thing to do and that mushroom identification is not something to go blindly into. Picked up a book from the library, Mushroom and Other Fungi of North America - Roger Phillips, and am overwhelmed though it did awaken me to NOT eat anything based on MY identification!! Anyway..... Rainy season has started. I am photographing, collecting, slicing and trying my hand at IDing. I do need to learn how to do spore prints and chemical tests. Where is a good place to pick up supplies? Such as the ammonia and KOH? Guess I also need a microscope. I do tend to dive into things and really submerse myself. With luck I should become quite good/dangerous within a year. angela
Hello, Diana. I started mushroom hunting last summer. I also discovered that not all mushrooms have gills at that time. I learn a lot at this site.
