bobbywett
I think these are Auricularia auricula (Wood Ear) ... I found them last weekend while searching for Morels. Any thoughts? Thanks, Bobby

Dave W
In North America the species name has changed (at least once) during the past 10 years. I think this is now called Auricularia americana. For all intensive purposes, the same type mushroom as Auricularia auricula. Best to dehydrate and then rehydrate when you're ready to put them into a soup or stir-fry. I left these growing on the log as I wasn't sure if they were edible
Kenny
Edible and not bad, but nothing special IMO. Will jump out of the pan when they pop if you try and sautee them, lol.
