SamVT
Top & bottom views. I hear Turkey Tail are white underneath, but turn to brownish with age (as seen?)
Dave W
Looks like Turkey Tail (Trametes versicolor), except for the fertile surface showing what appears to be elongated pore-openings/tubes. Check out Trametes villosa as an alternative possibility.
SamVT
I noticed that too, which is why I hesitated! I thought maybe it was a T. Versicolor that was decaying & the pores looked more teethy...I can't seem to find much info about Trametes villosa...Do you know of any good descriptions?
SamVT
The descriptions of T. Villosa I found do not include blue hues in the cap.
Dave W
Yeah, the blue hue is not a trait associated with T. villosa, but is a typical trait of T. versicolor. The elongated ragged pores seem like a problem for a versocolor ID. But, my guess is these are T. versicolor with unusually well-developed pores/tubes.
