Dave W
Species 1: Gymnopilus (genus). Possible species names include G. luteus, G. junonius, and perhaps a few others. Commonly applied species names seem to change for these types every year or so. Spore print for Gymnopilus should be rusty orange. Many of these have a spicy/licorice odor, and lost have extremely bitter taste. Species 2 looks like Hypsizygus. http://mushroomexpert.com/hypsizygus_ulmarius.html

Dave W
Looking again at species #1. If the spore print is white then Pleurotus dryinus is a possibility. Is there a brownish or rusty color on the rings seen on the stems?
