Fragrant Hydnellum

Brook

Recommended Posts

This beautiful specimen has such a strong fragrance it has filled the garage with this wonderfully intoxifying sweet smell...

Pretty sure my ID is correct. There was a young specimen very close that was completely white...

Looking at yours, reminded me of one I saw this weekend and never went back to. Hydnellum peckii maybe or diabolus. Problem is I didn't smell it or pick it. I forget what caught my attention away from it, until now. Thanks for reminding me Brook.

Nice photo-documentation, Brook. I don't know the Hydnellums very well... actually, I'm just beginning to examine a few this summer. But from the brief descriptions I've read in each of the Audubon and Bessette, Bessette, Fischer, looks like you've got a good ID.
