shaggy
Hello all, Is there such thing as a Lobster mushroom not being "lobstery" enough? Or are they (russula brevipes in this case?) tasty as soon as they look slightly lobster-ised?
Dave W
My guess is the featured mushroom is either... one that started to decay before the Hypomyces colonized it, or a once fully-developed Lobster that was thoroughly nibbled by snails. shaggy
Thanks! What I was really trying to ask is if the slightly pink, hard, youngish looking and plastic-y lobsters are just as good to eat as the rich, red obvious ones. It seems when you catch them early they look like like a hard, plastic toy version of a mushroom. The photo of the one I attached looked a little rough because I didn't get to prepping it two days after I picked it. Anyways, I cooked it and the rest of them and they were all tasty.
