Possibly Tylopilus variobrunneus... although I don't recall if this is a mild or bitter Tylo. I'll check my bolete field guide later today.

T. variobrunneus is listed as a mid-Atlantic species (WVA/NC) having a mild taste. So I think this is a possibility. Note the reticulate stem on the one in the photo.
