steve79 Posted July 29, 2015 Report Posted July 29, 2015 Hi, I have found these in the back corned of my field. I believe the larger one is a shaggy parasol but would like some help to ensure its the case. there is another which I have no real idea on other than a bollete? Please help as would love to tuck in to these if able to. Cheers Steve
Dave W Posted July 29, 2015 Report Posted July 29, 2015 The white-gilled mushroom with the thick ring on the stalk... possibly Shaggy Parasol (Chlorophyllum rhacodes). But another possibility is Chlorophyllum molybdites, the Green Spored Parasol. A spore print taken on half white/half black non-porous background will likely settle this. C. rhacodes has white print and C. molybdites has green print. Most people get sick after eating C. molybdites, some with intense flu-like symptoms. Rhacodes usually stains saffron/pinkish/orange on the cut stem. I don't see this in the photos posted here. So I'd lean towards molybdites. The other mushroom.... Do you mean the short button, steve? Looks like an Amanita to me. The gills may be covered by a partial veil, which can create the false impression of a poroid sterile surface. See if you can scrape away a membrane on the cap under-surface hiding gills underneath.
steve79 Posted July 30, 2015 Author Report Posted July 30, 2015 Many thanks Dave. Will do a spore print and get back to you.
