andras Posted December 9, 2025 Report Posted December 9, 2025 I found this on the Northern side of my yard where it doesn't get much Sun. Any idea what this is. The stem is a hollow. Thanks in advance. Quote
vitog Posted December 10, 2025 Report Posted December 10, 2025 It looks like some photos of Phallus impudicus, the Common Stinkhorn. The cap is usually pitted and covered with smelly slime, but maybe this one is a young one washed by rain. If it's a stinkhorn, the base should have a skirt around it. Did you see a cup-like skirt? MushroomGuru Posted December 11, 2025 Report Posted December 11, 2025 That is a stinkhorn. It's common name is " Ravenels Stinkhorn ". phallus ravenelii. Quote
islootoolsgrok Posted April 7 Report Posted April 7 I’m not an expert, but since it’s growing in a shady area and has a hollow stem, it might be something like a Psathyrella (brittlestem) or another moisture-loving species that pops up in low-light spots. That said, mushrooms can look very similar, so it’s hard to be sure without more details or a clear photo. You might want to try using a mushroom identification app like “mushrooms Identifier App”—it can give you a quick idea based on an image. Also, just a heads up—always avoid touching or eating unknown mushrooms until you’re 100% sure of the ID 👍 Quote
vitog Posted April 8 Report Posted April 8 MushroomGuru's ID looks very solid. It's definitely a stinkhorn and looks nothing like any Psathyrella. Quote
