CHCICKEN OF THE WOODS ON BLACK ASH

This has been growing for over a week.

In town, in a typical back yard.

Looks like Chicken of the Woods which I always thought grew on dead Oak.

But this is growing from a living Ash tree… probably Black Ash.

Seems unusual.

It was probably prime condition a few days ago. Would you have any concerns about eating it?

Some people would probably still eat it at this stage, but I only liked them when the outer edges are still rounded.
