Possibly Oyster Mushrooms (Pleurotus species). These are sometimes found fruiting at or near ground level from partially buried wood or roots. Seeing the undersides would be helpful.

Thanks for the quick reply. I went and got a couple more pics. I was leaning toward oyster also but the ones I found seemed very large to be oyster. My wild mushroom knowledge is pretty limited. Unfortunately the temp got to about 90 degrees today and it took a toll on them as you can see in the following pictures.

Looks like Oysters. I have seen many examples of Pluerotus that were at least as large as these.

I think these may be well past prime. If you see any signs of decay, then do not consume any of them. And if you do try them, then sample a small portion well-cooked and keep some uncooked material on hand in the fridge.
