Hylandrm81 Posted April 30, 2015 Report Posted April 30, 2015 These are all in nicely shadowed locations around decently moist soil. There are several all over my yard. I would love to be 100% sure they are edible Morels but I'm afraid that even with the expertise on this site, it's impossible to tell. Any help, or anyone in Orange County that has similar shrooms in their yards?
Dave W Posted April 30, 2015 Report Posted April 30, 2015 These are Morchella rufobrunnea, the yellow mulch morel of southwestern NA. I've never eaten this species These look to be in perfect condition. Harvest! No true morels are known to be poisonous. But some folks are sensitive to them. Under-cooked morels have a bad reputation. Saute in oil or butter and salt the morels. If preparing a sauce, deglaze with sherry. Morels pair well with eggs. In sufficient quantity, they even hold up in a mild curry.
Hylandrm81 Posted May 1, 2015 Author Report Posted May 1, 2015 Excellent!!!! Thank you so much for the good news.
