4rum Posted December 4, 2014 Report Posted December 4, 2014 Got to the office this morning, these were growing on the maple outside. Pretty sure they're oysters just don't know the genus.
Dave W Posted December 5, 2014 Report Posted December 5, 2014 Look like Oysters to me (Pleurotus). But these appear to be past prime, possibly frozen/thawed and now rapidly decomposing. Quite a flush of Oysters down there in W VA.
4rum Posted December 5, 2014 Author Report Posted December 5, 2014 Dave you would be correct in that they are 'aged' ... I retired July 31 but go in and cover a shift now and then and keep up with things. I hadn't been to the office for several days at all. Right about the flush too. Oysters seem to be popping out everywhere. I couldn't be happier. They really are delicious and this spurt of sightings has brightened my winter time gloom immeasurably.
Cedric Posted December 11, 2014 Report Posted December 11, 2014 Yup, looks like Oysters. Keep an eye out for when they come out again to identify correctly.
4rum Posted December 11, 2014 Author Report Posted December 11, 2014 Thanks Cedric. I'll check that maple anytime I pass it now. Hope there's another spurt of growth. It's been really cold for several days now. I don't expect much.
