TerryD Posted November 18, 2014 Report Posted November 18, 2014 I found this mushroom 17 feet up in an oak tree.I fleshed the corner of it,dark brown in color. Looks & smells like a reishi mushroom on the inside. it's rather large it weighs about 3 pounds. can anyone tell me what this is?

Dave W Posted November 18, 2014 Report Posted November 18, 2014 I doubt this is a Reishi (varnished Ganoderma species). Maybe a species of Phellinus?
