Dave W Posted November 16, 2014 Report Posted November 16, 2014 According to the guide North American Boletes, B. smithii has pores that bruise blue. If you push a finger against the pores just hard enough to cause a little damage, then the damaged area should turn blueish. I don't know this western NA species. But it looks like B. smithii is a good proposal. I'm sure some our members from out west will weigh in on this one.
Puddleduck Posted November 17, 2014 Author Report Posted November 17, 2014 I found this mushroom about a year ago so I can't test the blue pores thing now. We will see what other people say!
