Cap: The cap was a light browny orange colour and a bit slimy Stem: Ranged from 1-2 inches tall Gills: They were brown and started on the stem quite a bit Location: They were growing on a log and some moss in Vancouver BC in a park that was very shady and damp Images: They are not embedded sorry! https://www.dropbox.com/s/tp4q4dtybk1qqwd/PSP-146.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/u23qo21bzgxvv94/PSP-147.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/e5il838zn6xxpdb/PSP-148.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/zq1qxbnzdrslpn0/PSP-149.jpg?dl=0 Thanks!!
Dave W Posted November 16, 2014 Report Posted November 16, 2014 Possibly Paxillus vernalis. I don't have first-hand knowledge of this species, but the ones seen here look similar to the Paxillus involutus that I commonly find here in PA. Description from Mushroom Expert seems to fit. http://www.mushroomexpert.com/paxillus_vernalis.html A clear view of an underside would be helpful.
Puddleduck Posted November 16, 2014 Author Report Posted November 16, 2014 I saw these mushrooms about a year ago and got no underside view. Picture 3 has the best view of the gills I find. Looks like Paxillus involutus to me. I will read the mushrooms expert description.
