Puddleduck Posted November 13, 2014 Report Posted November 13, 2014 I found this mushroom on a log in a forest and it was about 10-12 inches high. It was wilting over the log and the cap was a bit slimy and grey all over. There weren't any noticeable spore marks on the log and the gills were a whitey grey colour. Anyone have ideas of what it may be?Thanks!
eat-bolete Posted November 13, 2014 Report Posted November 13, 2014 Do you have a photo of the cap from the top?
eat-bolete Posted November 13, 2014 Report Posted November 13, 2014 Possibly Clitocybe trullaeformis?
Puddleduck Posted November 14, 2014 Author Report Posted November 14, 2014 I did not get a photo of the cap. If you google Clitocybe trullaeformis the pictures show different white mushrooms. Thanks for the suggestion though!
Dave W Posted November 14, 2014 Report Posted November 14, 2014 Looks somewhat like Pseudoclitocybe cyathiformis, except the way the gills are attached to the stalk on this species usually looks a bit different... decurrent (running down the stalk) but terminating uniformly at the same distance down the stalk.
Puddleduck Posted November 14, 2014 Author Report Posted November 14, 2014 Hi Dave W, I think it is Pseudoclitocybe cyathiformis
Dave W Posted November 15, 2014 Report Posted November 15, 2014 Spore print white for P. cyathiformis.
Puddleduck Posted November 15, 2014 Author Report Posted November 15, 2014 Dave W, Did you mean to right is the spore print white or?…
Dave W Posted November 15, 2014 Report Posted November 15, 2014 I mean this... If you obtain a spore print for a specimen of Pseudoclitocybe cyathiformis, then it should be white.
Puddleduck Posted November 15, 2014 Author Report Posted November 15, 2014 I did not get a spore print.
