ChefsWild Posted October 26, 2014 Report Posted October 26, 2014 Spore printing now. Pics don't really do justice to the hints of red-purple on the cap. Stem has a bit of the same hue.
ChefsWild Posted October 26, 2014 Author Report Posted October 26, 2014 Update: Spore print was faint, but appears white on black paper and invisible on white paper.
Dave W Posted October 26, 2014 Report Posted October 26, 2014 Looks like one of the gray/brown species of Tricholoma, of which there are several here on NA. Some of them are sickeners. One very good gray Trich is T. portentosum, but the one seen here is almost certainly not T. portentosum. Just to be sure... if the stalk snaps like a piece of chalk, then you have a Russula. These are also white-spored and may resemble Trichs.
ChefsWild Posted October 28, 2014 Author Report Posted October 28, 2014 Definitely not Russula-crumbly.
