Dave W Posted September 5 Report Share Posted September 5 Yes. Over the years this type mushroom has gone by many different names. The genus has changed from.... Collybia to Oudemansiella to Xeruls to Hymenopellis, and most recently back to Oudemansiella as b=per a genetics-based study. There are several different possibilities for the species. In PA the most common species of "rooter" is Oudemansiella furfuracea. Some field guides still list this under the genus Hymenopellis.
