skypilote Posted October 17, 2014 Report Posted October 17, 2014 Waking out back today I found a few I’m wondering about theygrow under white pines there are lots
Dave W Posted October 18, 2014 Report Posted October 18, 2014 Looks like one of the gray Tricholomas. T. terreum is a common species. T. virgatum usually has an umbo (central bump on the cap). T. portentosum is the only gray Trich I gather for the table. It has a shinier cap surface and whiter gills with lemon-yellow tints. These are likely not portentosum. I don't think these are Entolomas, but to rule out this genus with high confidence a spore print should be taken. Entoloma prints are deep salmon-pink to tannish-pink.
skypilote Posted October 18, 2014 Author Report Posted October 18, 2014 Thank you I'm taking a spore print now the Audubon field guide for north America call it a fibril trich but dos-not give edibility but they do look like the pic
