ChefsWild Posted October 16, 2014 Report Posted October 16, 2014 Spore printed white. Not crumbly or milky.
Dave W Posted October 16, 2014 Report Posted October 16, 2014 Looks like a species of either Gymnopus or Rhodocollybia. But what appears to be a ring on the upper stalk of the one is bothersome. I think it may be the result of a tear in the stalk surface, and possibly some staining on the torn flesh. But even though you found no obvious latex, these could be Lactarius with very little latex. Some milkies contain very little milk, and some that generally contain easily observable latex lose mush of it in age. gently pressing a finger or a piece of paper against the cut flesh will sometimes allow one to observe scant latex. Seeing the stalk base would be helpful. My guess is these are a species of Gymnopus. But the licorice odor is puzzling...?
