Agrocybe praecox?

Recommended Posts

The thick "cogwheel" rings on the stalks, gills becoming gray, and blackish spore print point toward Stropharia rugosoannulata. I think these are the classic "wine cap" type, except faded and with cracked cap surfaces due to drying in situ. There's also a yellow variety (f. lutea).

If you collect a substantial spore print on a black non-absorbent surface, you may see a subtle difference from pure black. Agrocybe praecox has a cigar-brown spore print.
