Kevin Hoover
Started 16 grow bags with chestnut mushrooms last week and 10 buckets of oysters. Oysters are on unpasteurized straw and chestnuts are on masters mix (50/50 soy hulls and hardwood sawdust). Gave four of the oyster buckets to a friend who was planning to give them to family for Christmas. Had a house full yesterday for Christmas. One of the guys logs with horses, and asked me what I need for mushroom logs. I told him 3-6” limb wood would work. He’s cutting white oak in one location and rock(chestnut) oak in another. He volunteered to cut some rock oak for me. I also am friends with a father and son who are in my mushroom club. They told me earlier that they plan to cut about a hundred logs. They said if I’d help inoculate the logs, they’d split them with me. I told them I’d provide the spawn and wax.
Kevin Hoover
First 8 bags of chestnuts I did look like they are infected. Other 8 seem fine. Oyster buckets are just starting to pin.
