CrumbBalls
Shows all signs of being a poplar field cap but I want to be sure. Please let me know what you all think. Thanks!
Dave W
In just checked the internet to see what is meant by "poplar field cap." This refers to the species Cyclocybe cylindracea. Themushrooms seen in the photo are definitely not this species. The mushrooms in this photo are a species of genus Agaricus, a very large genus, ie. many different species. Some Agaricus species are edible and some sra toxic; not lethal but eating a toxic Agaricus mushroom will cause sickness. I'm fairly confident mushrooms seen here represent one of the toxic species of Agaricus, The cap featuring small dark/black scales that coalesce into a dark disc (center) point toward this ID. Here's one such example https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agaricus_placomyces .
