Dave W Posted July 25, 2022 Report Share Posted July 25, 2022 There are several possibilities for the species. Probably a species of genus Tylopilus. Some of these taste bitter and some taste mild. So, that would be a starting point, nibble/taste/spit to assess bitter versus mild (completely safe with boletes). Another possibility is genus Porphyrellus, a "split-off" of Tylopilus that contains a few species with dark pores. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
