Traveling guy
I believe these are calocybe gambosa. Any help out there. I am at latitude 19 North 102 West. It's Mexico Uruapan Michoacán. I'm from Missouri and know most edibles there but never seen these before. Growing at base of rotted palm.
Calvert
I think Calocybe gambosa is limited to Europe and isn't found in North or Central America. I would begin by determining the spore colour.
Dave W
I agree with Calvert. Calocybe gambosa is believed to be strictly European. Spore print color will help, but I'm betting it's white. I think these may be Macrocybe titans, a species of southern NA. http://www.mushroomexpert.com/macrocybe_titans.html There are other possibilities. michele
it could be Lyophillum connatum
Dave W
Yes, Lyophyllum would be second guess; also with white spores. My third guess would be genus Lepista, and in this case the spore print would be pale fleshy pinkish.
