MushyLarry
Hello, I found the attached shelf mushroom attached to a dying/sick maple in my neighbor's yard in Western MA, USA.  I'm a novice, and would love some help identifying this. Any nudges in the right direction would be appreciated.  Thank you!
Dave W
Old Ganoderma fruit bodies. Probably G. sessile. Is the wood hardwood? Looks like maybe oak.
MushyLarry
Hi Dave, thank you! That's what I suspected as well. It is hardwood - but not Oak. It's at the base of an old sugar maple.
Dave W
Maple is what I usually find G. sessile on. Oak is also reported as a host.
