Dima
Location: Northern Illinois I understand that it may not be enough information but these images are stills from a video of my walk in a grove. I didn't want to pick anything up that I don't know and don't have photos of other parts of the mushroom. The habitat can be seen in this video - https://youtu.be/CYxaKv_KxDM. I also found many other species in this video, someone may find that interesting.
svs
One of many Suillus species. Can't tell for sure which. Looks kind of old.
bobby b
I think the fine reticulation on the stem points to another genus.
svs
It has what appeares remnants of veil, see top pick, on the edge of the cap and mid stem.
Dave W
Very interesting! Yes, presence of a partial veil points toward genus Suillus. But, the habitat (hardwood area) looks wrong for almost all Suillus species (except maybe S. subaureus, which lacks a veil) and the pores don't look like Suillus, too small and not radially arranged. I think this is an example of Paragyrodon sphaerosporus, and uncommon hardwood bolete with a partial veil that partly clings to the cap margin. http://www.mushroomexpert.com/paragyrodon_sphaerosporus.html
Dima
Thank you all. Dave, I asked for identification in a few FB groups and people also suggested that this is a bolete. Paragyrodon sphaerosporus looks like the correct species. Thank you.
