Norcalmush
I'm new to hunting. My property has a lot of different kinds. So I want to starting eating my free o site mushrooms. 🙂 Best I can tell, this is a Suillus spraguei. Appreciate any feedback.
Dave W
Assuming that the "Sacramento" listed as location is the one in CA, I'd say S. spraguei is unlikely. Probably S. lakei.
Norcalmush
Thank you for your reply. Actually Colfax California. I changed my profile. I think you are correct. I will study the pics and the info on it. I have 10 or 12 different types of new mushrooms this year because I added wood chips on the ground.
Dave W
The Suillus mushroom is not the result of having added woodchips. These are are all mycorrhizal species, meaning that the mushrooms come from a fungus that is associated in a symbiotic relationship with a tree. For genus Suillus, the tree is usually a conifer.
