simonb
Found this one growing in thick pine cedar forest. First time I've ever seen one with such a thick stem; is around 1.5 inches diameter. Does seem a bit brittle like most russula species. DriftlessWI
I think I have the same. Found in bunches in area of dead box elder, ash and elm. Starts small gets 6 inches or larger. Bugs loove them. Just smells fresh to me.
Dave W
Maybe Clitocybe robusta (all seen here). Does it have a strange slightly unpleasant odor?
DriftlessWI
Thanks Dave. Sure seems likely. It just smells fresh. I've read could depend on substrate it grows on for smell. I'll do a spore print soon. I figured there were soo many it couldn't be edible baha.
