Kevin Hoover
We had friends out yesterday showing them some of the horse camping areas near here. He is somewhat interested in mushrooms, but has limited mobility. She doesn’t eat mushrooms. We drove back one dirt road, and my wife yelled “Stop! Back up! There’s a bunch of orange mushrooms on that snag back there.” I got out to check them and noticed the plants and been stepped down and someone had walked to the snag. I walked closer, then went back to the car for a paper lunch bag(I had my mushroom basket in the back). Then I walked back down and filled the bag with nice young chicken of the woods. Someone had cut some already, and I left plenty there for others to pick. I don’t really like it, but I have a friend who loves chicken of the woods. We drive down the road and she stops me again. A bunch of chanterelles this time! I told them it doesn’t normally e we irk like this. I find numerous mushrooms that I cannot identify. Showed them one more on this trip. A destroying angel. My wife spotted a bunch the night before as we were driving along another dirt road. Hydnum repandum! I meant to say it doesn’t always work this way
JOHNY
Road hunting mushrooms. Been there. Done that. No shame. Very effective when the knee arthritis prevents longs walks. Road hunted some Suillis brevipes , Orange(Aspen) Leccinum aurantiacum (might be Hydnelum these days) and a few Birch Leccinum. On the road, this weekend.😁
