Bayoufrogg Posted August 29, 2021 Report Posted August 29, 2021 Last year, i experimented with growing logs at home for the first time. I plugged 30 logs with shitake, made 3 totems with golden oyster, and 2 totems with lions mane. 2 of my golden oyster totems rotted but one stood strong. It has produced 3 strong flushes this summer. They are much more fragile than other pleurotus species but they sure are tasty.
JOHNY Posted September 2, 2021 Report Posted September 2, 2021 Be patient with your Lions Mane logs. It took mine 3 years before the first flush.
Bayoufrogg Posted November 15, 2021 Author Report Posted November 15, 2021 Success now on about 20 shitakes logs and 2 lions mane totems. Hoping to make a few more this year before it gets too cold.
Z-Unit22 Posted July 19, 2023 Report Posted July 19, 2023 I bet those Golden Oysters are gonna be all over your yard/neighborhood pretty soon and you won't even have to worry about growing them lol. They are spreading all over the country pretty quickly apparently. They are really delicious though. I heard from someone that eating lots of Oyster mushrooms can be dangerous due to low levels of something bad in them. Have you heard anything about this?
