Jacobi cullins
Hello friends, I found some mushrooms today in Washington DC, and at first I was sure they were summer oyster mushrooms so I picked them up and took them home. I sat down to do my proper research when I got home, and now I’m a little worried I might have found angel wing mushrooms instead.
rbenn
Was this on hardwood? The greasy look makes me think Pleurotus pulmonarius. Pleurocybella porrigens has a smooth edge and usually grows on conifers.
Dave W
The rather well-defined stalks point toward Pleurotus pulmonarius. As mentioned already, determining if he wood is hardwood or conifer is the best way to ID Pleurotus vs. Pleurocybella.
