Amanita multisquamosa?

Old Oak

Recommended Posts

I took this one through the key on mushroomexpert, and came up with A. multisquamosa. I hadn’t seen them with the brown top before though, so I was a bit confused. White spore print.

Also….hi everyone! Sorry I’ve been away so long!

Your Id seems like a very good proposal to me. The photos on amaniticae.org have a much more pronounced brown circle on the cap and they say that the brown circle on the cap is characteristic of the species. Your mushroom definitely has volva and anulus that match the description of A. multisquamosa. That funnel shaped anulus is very distinctive and the other species listed on amaniticae.org that have a similar anulus don't fit this specimen. I think you nailed it.
