Cedric
Hi all, I just moved to Wilmington from Spain where I have been hunting mushrooms for 15 years... and now will have to start all over again to make sure I know All the bad guys before eating the good ones... I would love to meet people in the area to start learning and will be a contributor to the forums. Any recommendation for a good feel guide would be appreciated. Cheers
John Smalldridge
Welcome Cedric, I'm about two hours north of you. Wilmington is a nice area and I'm sure you'll enjoy it. If you look in the section called in the library on this forum, there is a good discussion on field guides. I'm looking foward to your posts. Cedric
Thanks for the welcome to both! John, if 2 hours north is in the Raleigh/Durham area, this is a place I will probably need to go regularly for work, so I hope we will have a chance to meet. Cheers! brianf
i missed this post......not only welcome to the forums, but welcome to the US cedric, hopefully your transition is going smoothly and your life here a pleasure. and you lucked out, because from what I gather, NC seems to be quite a good place to find other mushroom hunters. it's always easy to find people to help you eat them.....not so much to help you find them. Cedric
Thanks Brian! I love to walk the woods alone, although my wife does get worried I'll get lost. But I also like to go with a small group as that is the way to learn a lot. Cheers,
Feral Boy
If you get over into the Blue Ridge / Smoky Mountains, this is a good guide: Mushrooms of West Virginia and the Central Appalachians by William C. Roody http://www.amazon.com/Mushrooms-West-Virginia-Central-Appalachians/dp/0813190398
