rosyeyes
Hey yall! I'm having a hard time finding a definitive distribution (preferably a map) of american matsutake (Tricholoma magnivelare). I live in the gulf coast and would love to try one, but I dont even know if they grow here. If anyone has seen some in the gulf, or has like a distribution map I will be eternally grateful. Tasso
There are two types. One, found in the PNW commonly associated with Lodge pole pine. The other in Quebec, New York state, and Northern Michigan commonly associated with jack pine.. Sorry, not a subtropical species.

The Mushroom Whisperer
Tricholoma mesoamericanum grows south of the border in Mexico, so it's possible there are some in the gulf states... hopefully someone who lives there will post up for you soon!
