  1. Hello everyone, thanks for allowing me on-board. First let me say my name is Jeff, my wife and I + 2 awesome kids are from south Mississippi, about 25 miles from the Gulf Coast living in a rural area of mostly southern pines, water oaks, and live oaks around our home. It appears that most postings are from the North East and Pacific Northwest, so thought I would bring some Southern Hospitality to the group. So what prompted me to join was our yard seems to be getting more and more overran with mushrooms...its crazy. So this year was pretty bad, and I normally just kick them over (please forgive me) because it makes my yard look like a mushroom farm. So that's what finally drove me to seek out what all these different mushrooms are. By the way, I love to cook, and also another, rather selfish, reason to see if any of these are actually edible...of course approached with utmost caution and hopefully some sound advice and/or identification from the group. I should begin posting these today some time in the ID section of the forums. Thanks in advance for your help! Jeff

  4. Good day everybody!! I am 37 guy located in western Pa. about 20 miles northeast of Pittsburgh. I enjoy walking my dog Yogi in the woods. Since I spend a lot of my spare time in the woods, I have been thinking to add mushroom hunting as another hobby. Any and all advice will be appreciated. Thanks, Mike
  5. Hi, I'm new to this site and this is my first post here. To introduce myself, I'd like to share photos of a few of my favorite finds from over the summer here in Florida. It was a hot and wet one as usual and the fungi was everywhere! A North American species within the Ganoderma lucidum complex. 6. Hello all. I recall as a child my family going mushroom hunting, I was only the recipient of the bounty. I'm very interested in all things wild and edible, especially mushrooms. It's good to be here, Niish-

  9. Hi, everyone I'm Jon. I'm a chemistry graduate student (hoping to defend very soon) in central MA. I've always enjoyed hiking, and noticed that the woods here are just full of fungi, so I started to take more of an interest in them. Its nice to know there's a forum full of people who are also interested in fungi, who I can chat with and bounce ideas off of. I'll probably have lots of questions about identification, etc. Some of my training has covered biochemistry and natural products chemistry, so If anyone has any chem questions, I can probably help out with those too. Hope to chat more soon
