Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum. Just moved back to VT from MT and have been loving the late summer foraging! Came across this beauty on my morning dog walk. I believe it to be a purple-gilled laccaria, although my Audubon Field Guide has limited info and the photos aren't great. Thoughts? Going to start a spore print now. What's the best way to store/prep/cook this gorgeous purple specimen?

Hi everyone, I'm new to your community and want to say thanks in advance for any help I receive. OK, I'll jump straight in...... I'm living in the Cevennes in the south of France where I find a good variety of edible mushrooms - Parasol, Saffron Milk Cap, Winter Chanterelle, Hedgehog, Fairy Ring, Cauliflower etc - (a few different Bolets but not, as yet, any Ceps) I have a good variety of identification books, both French and English but have been a bit stumped by a recent find. I found what I think are Gomphus Clavatus but every book/internet site I have looked at says they have white flesh while the ones I found have a marbled purple flesh. I have looked at a few and none of them are white. They are growing in rings under pine but there are also chestnuts nearby. Any thoughts?...... Joe P.S, forgive me if this is posted in the wrong place or I'm missing something!
