Hello, I thought I should check before I eat these. I am fairly sure these are oyster mushrooms since they were found on some hardwood logs (never mind the hemlocks in the background - the logs were brought from elsewhere) near Montreal mid-October. The do have that slight anise smell too. Can anyone corroborate or correct me? Thanks!

Ok so I live in the pacific northwest and I found this large clump of mushrooms, there is no odd smell or odor to it, I am not sure what it is, I know what an oyster mushroom looks like and I would confidently say this is one if not for the gills below it. It has pores or so it would appear. Anyway if anyone could help!

Found this just today, I live in the Pacific Northwest. Not sure what this mushroom is, has nothing unusual in odor. I would swear its an oyster mushroom but it doesn't have gills that is why I am confused.

Hi! looking for help to identify these oyster looking mushrooms I found. They are growing out of the wood chips from an old Moreton bay fig tree that was felled on our property. Byron bay Australia. From the research I have done they look the part. It sounds like there is a very close lookalike that is toxic but glows in the dark? I can’t see any glow. first time trying to identify and hoping to take all the necessary precaution! thanks for any help.

I live in eastern Pa and just found clusters of these gorgeous mushrooms, and I'm hoping they're edible Yellow Oysters. Can someone tell me if they are? They are growing on a fallen log, but I'm not sure what type of tree. My Dad used to pick wild mushrooms and told me one sign of an edible mushroom is if insects are flying around them, which they were. Another is if turtles have bitten them. As you can see on one of the photos bites have been taken. I'd like to harvest them tomorrow.

We have some oysters popping out in the side yard and when I pick them suddenly I am singing about Santa coming to town. I usually sing - off key - when out in the yard but hardly ever Christmas tunes. Started to notice that when I was picking the oysters the songs became seasonally inappropriate. Hmmm. Then it hit me, oysters smell like cotton? No, linen! Freshly ironed holiday tablecloths my mother would put out. Does anyone else think that oyster mushrooms smell more like linen than the odor of the sea gems they are named for?
