  1. Hello funGuys, Help me identify the following mushroom. I found the mushroom in a grassy ground near some oaks and olive trees in Italy. Temperature: 10-20 °C (50-68°F) Dark Brown cap. White stem without ring and no inner hole. White spore print. Don't bother going into details. Be as scientific and precise as you want.

  10. Novice - id help needed Collected these now (late November) in greece, still early autumn. Found in a small group in a field in Kefalonia island. Around the field there are mature oak trees. They were growing out of a vulva but there is no identifiable ring. Having spent hours on the net, i suspect they are porcini family. But also read not easy to distinguish from deadly species. I am pondering for two days a shame to throw away but high risk if not 100% certain. Thanks for all the help!

  15. Found a bunch of these growing in close proximity on wet/humid mulch in Baton Rouge, LA. No apparent bruising. Are they edible boletes?
  16. I found this southeastern U.S. Strobilomyces today. Not sure if it is an Old Man of The Woods or is that a generic term for all Strobilomyces? Not unlike the Amanita, sorting out the subspecies seems a bit elusive from the macro observations and online reference searching. Can anyone confirm, please? Guessing: Strobilomyces confusus Strobilomyces dryophilus Observations: 1) Growing under a conifer. 2) Summer Southeastern U.S. Summer Season. 3) Prickly looking pileus. 4) Woody looking stipe. 5) Polypore. 6) Gray/brown spore print. 7) Stipe was firm. 😎 Smelled like a fresh mushroom. (A. bisporus) 9) Pileus was approximately 3 inches in diameter. 10) No neighboring mushroom were obvious. 11) Stipe was fibrous internally. 12) The specimen darkened (as seen in the pics) on the way home. Thank you.
  17. Hello everyone. Thank you to all who helped with my last identification. Alas, I think I figured this one out myself. I was hiking this evening in NC and found the cool mushroom in the pics. I scavenged a zipbag from my day-pack and harvested the specimen. I photographed it and took it home to spore print and identify. (See pic, please.) I tried an app to identify it and it came back as something completely wrong, with several more suggestions that were easily ignored. I will not name the app. A few minutes on the internet, and I am fairly certain it is a Volvarialla bombycina. Being new, I am hoping someone could help with a confirmation. I have also concluded that I would be wrong. It could be a different subspecies of Volvariella or Volvopletus or worse something completely frightening but all signs seem to point toward the Variella b. mushroom. Again, no one is eating it, just learning. Let's see if I can do this right and sound intelligent. OBSERVATIONS: 1) The mushroom was growing alone in some "Mulch" in a dead hardwood tree on a small freshwater island in NC in early August. 2) The mushroom smelled similar to a portabella or variant. 3) The volva was intact upon discovery. 4) The gills (lamellae) were salmon colored. (Similar Copic Marker RV42 Salmon Pink) 5) The cap (pileus) was "fuzzy" looking up close. (See pic Volv6) 6) When separating the stem (stipe) from the cap (pileus) it was firmly attached and broke into three pieces as seen in the pic (volv1). 7) The pieces were very moist and it took nearly an hour to get a good spore stain. 😎 The spore stain is a rusty reddish brown color. (Similar to Pantone 18-1248 TCX swatch) 9) Ants were on it. (Not sure this is relevant.) 10) Cap was approximately 4"-5" in diameter. Thank you all for your patience and help.
  18. It has brown underside No rings on stem My guess is Psilocybe cyanescens but I'm not sure
  19. Hi everyone, I found these mushrooms growing in my backyard... it's been raining a lot the last few days so I'm not sure if that affects their coloring but I tried to get good photos. They don't stink or smell particularly strong just very slight earthy smell.. I have a dog who likes eating things he isn't supposed to. He's mainly an indoor dog but he still goes out to play ball and run and potty. We always go out there with him, but we can't always have our eyes on him so I just wanted to find out what kind they are and make sure they aren't deadly. Any help identifying them will be very much appreciated! Thank you and have an awesome day!!
  20. I just found this mushroom in my backyard and can’t seem to identify it. Some help will be much appreciated!

  22. Hey All, I'm having a difficult time identifying a recent find. Unfortunately my pics are not the best, I was using a gopro. I didn't have time for a spore print, I was in a hurry through the wilderness when I made this find. Brand new to the site, hope the pictures post properly. I've posted on some other boards but have not had any luck, this site looks much more professional and I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Thank You! Habitat: Growing on dried out dead conifer. Desolation wilderness in Tallent lakes area, near Lake Tahoe. Time of year late May. 2 fruiting bodies seemingly becoming one at base of stems. Gills: Black with some dark grey around center, I think partially attached. See photos. Stem: 3-4" tricolored?! from cap starting a dark brown, the stem thins halfway down and becomes white for .5", then thickens and the remainder is yellowish-offwhite. Two mushroom fruiting bodies present at site, stems become one at base. Rough towards bottom of stem, fuzzy/scaly. Cap: Just under 2" diameter, darkened central knob abruptly fading to beige, with even and well defined dark-belted ring around cap's margin
  23. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1BfoXWK6FXadfe7gTwpZ_pn9Loi9Rr56a8VbeOO4_b2k/edit?usp=sharing I was picking through my produce garden two days ago and I came across these little guys...After a little bit of research I think they may be pan Sub/Panaeolus Cinctulus... The spore print is Jet Black and they were found in my produce garden which had been fertilized with horse dung and mulch, the area is also watered every day. The garden is in eastern PA near the Delaware river. In the pics they are a bit dried out but when I picked them they were a lot more colorful, this morning all color is gone and the caps are cracked and white grayish... Also, I have not seen any blue bruising on them yet. Thanks for the ID! Here are the pics I V https://docs.google.com/document/d/1BfoXWK6FXadfe7gTwpZ_pn9Loi9Rr56a8VbeOO4_b2k/edit?usp=sharing Or
