Found in high mountain river valley. Grows in small clusters. Base grows out of egg like bowl berried at soil surface. Tip to base has pores, larger pores at base. Tip releases brown foul exudate as it ages. Size ranges from 3-6 inches. Grows somewhat upright. Just curious, never seen anything like it. Any identification suggestions?
