  1. I found these in the edge of a field right next to a forest. They have the coloring but i wasn't sure. Thanks!
  2. Great to know! Much appreciated. Was going to try to cook with some but given that it can cause upset stomachs, might pass on it for now.
  3. I found these growing on the base of a dying tree today. My best guess is Armillaria ostoyae. Thanks!
  4. So i went back and tested the ring. It did slide up and down. I did not make a spore print but I will next time I come across them. Thanks again!
  5. Great to know! I'll shy away from them for more until I get more experience. Thank you.
  6. Any good tips on how to determine if they are edible given the family is hard to id?
  7. I don't recall any of birch trees in the immediate vicinity but I'll have to swing by tomorrow to check. I know there are some within a 25 yards or so.
  8. Much appreciated everyone! I'll go back to them tomorrow to test them. Lots of great information here. Thank you!!
  9. Sorry for bombarding the thread with ID requests. I'm in the process of learning how to identify mushrooms. I try to cross reference stuff with a few books and pics on the internet but just to make sure I want to reach out to the experts... Anyways, I found these near a stand of trees next to a pond. I think they are shaggy parasols because of the solid colored stem but I'm not 100% sure. Thanks!
  10. I found this on an un-mown part of a cricket pitch in the UK. They look to be similar to a wooly milkcap but not pink enough. Then I came across a picture of a bearded milkcap.
  11. I found this in my lawn under the hedge in the UK. I think it's an agaricus of some type but not sure which. I've cut it open, it didn't stain, and it smells mushroomy. The younger ones are have pinkish gills and the older have brownish. Any ideas?
  12. Amazing!! Thanks for the quick reply.
  13. I'm just getting into mushroom hunting. Was out with my daughter and I found a few of these near a birch tree in a field. It didn't stain when I cut it. What do you guys think? Thanks!
