  1. Great, the underside and white flesh both check out. Thanks for the help!
  2. I cannot seem to find anything in the 3 books I looked through. Mid Minnesota area. Could not tell the tree it was growing on due to how dead it was but a lot of birch, aspen and oak around it. Spider webs all around it too with lots of bugs on some older ones. Strong smell to it but not necessarily bad smell.
  3. Everything checked out and I tried a bit at lunch. Taste great! Thanks for the help.
  4. Same as the below post.. Found where I usually find birch boletes but these are huge but no shingle like on the stem. No base bluing like the birch. Oaks around as well. Minneapolis area.
  5. Found where I usually find birch boletes but these are huge and an odd shingle like on the stem. No base bluing like the birch.
  6. Looks like it. Actually there is an ash growing very close on the neighbors side too. Thanks!
  7. Veiny pores, leathery cap, and quickly blues when broken from the stem. Found in my yard and cannot figure out what it may be. There is a pine and ash growing near by but does not seem to be growing from visible wood.
  8. Great! Thank you for your help!
  9. Nice. Do I just set it on its side for a print? It doesn't have any obvious gills or pores to lay towards the surface. There are a couple trumpet like crevices that have a white powdery look that I thought was mold but assume it's spore now that I'm looking closer.
  10. Found in Minneapolis area between oak tree roots. Oddly thick and irregular shape to it.
  11. I looked through my midwest book and Peterson field guide with no luck. Any ideas. North of Minneapolis growing off of what I think was a dead oak.
  12. Found growing under birch trees north of Minneapolis mn. Slight bluing at bottom and rough scaled stem.
