  1. Wow thanks for the clarification and links!
  2. Gotcha thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I got a spore print, definitely rusty brown. I was wondering, though, how can you tell the difference - or is there a difference - between the ventricosus and the spectabilis? I was reading through the section for this mushroom in David Arora’s book and he mentions that the variant spectabilis has psychoactive properties (also referred to as the laughing gym). But online I see that these two names are often used interchangeably, which is kind of confusing.
  3. Just found this cluster of mushrooms in some wood chips by my house. Plucked one to get some better pics of the gills and stem. Any thoughts as to the identification of this beast? Would love to know if it's edible. It has so much firm meat! Cluster: Clusters of older mushrooms right beside. Maybe same species:
  4. Ah yes hahah I wish I could've found some more in tact ones, but I think I got there a little too late.
  5. Hey all, Just stumbled upon this little guy amongst a grove of oaks I believe (included a picture of the tree and leaves for reference because I have no experience identifying trees). It seemed to be a bit trampled when I found it, but still pretty surprisingly in tact. I say it might be a chanterelle because (well I hope so, for one) my friend had told me he finds them around this spot, and it seems to hold a few notable characteristics, though maybe unripe. This was yesterday afternoon, about 5-7 days after the last rainfall. Interested to see what you think!
