  1. I'm confused?? That looks like an older puff ball??? Paul
  2. Is your real name Alice??? Do you live in wonderland??? lol..Love your pictures, keep them coming. Thanks Paul
  3. I found some slippery jacks under a couple pine trees this year. No apparent ring though?? Anyway, I cut the slippery skin off of the caps, cut up and sauteed with butter and garlic infused olive oil...Lets just say I won't be picking these again..lol Paul
  4. The gills do pull away from the cap as in the picture. They have remained white although they are a week old and the caps are upturning with age. They made a 20 foot diameter fairy ring, which makes good conversation, but I'm not picking them. lol. I have found some shaggy manes lately, that I feel mostly safe eating. I will do another spore print, because I think it was thick, but we threw out the paper after a couple of days... Thanks Paul
  5. Are they still good to eat when they are large and opend up?? A white spore print with sliding ring for both Parisol and Shaggy Parisol?? Any sign of green or green spore print bad. Pretty sure I've got these coming up from time to time, but want to be sure before sampling any for food... Nice pics everybody. Paul
  6. Thanks Dave. The spore print was pale yellow or maybe cream colored?? Either way it was hard to see on white paper. I think the C. robusta is most likely correct. I looked it up along with the Leucopaxillus on Mushroom Expert.com but not in my books yet. There are more popping up today and all kinds of funky looking mushrooms in our yard. We live in the middle of fields, 1/2 mile from roads. So basically anything could grow here, lol. Thanks for your help. I did not eat this one.... Paul
  7. Entolomo Abortivum [sic]?? Might be a possability. It has a lot of the charecteristics, that I saw. Bulbous base, gills seemingly to descend a little and several mushrooms growing from a blob of white base. Also fungus at the base??? Found in east central Indiana. Paul
  8. Lots of these popped up under my pine trees. They are growing in what looks like a fairy ring. I'm taking a spore print but not done yet. These things have a very substantial base/bulbous base. Some times multiple mushrooms seemingly growing from same base. Looking at several different possabilities but these have to be common???If someone could point me in the right direction?? They seem to have no taste when I sampled a small piece and spit out. Smell was sweet/good??? Thanks Paul
  9. That figures Dave..lol At least my palate is o.k. They just don't look very appealing either, although it was a neat find last year when I identified it. Paul
  10. Does anyone like/eat these??? I have an abundance of them, but the one time I sampled them, they were not to my liking. Not so sure they didn't hurt my tummy?? I have a small low area/swamp that is full of these things. Just can't bring myself to tryem again. Paul
  11. DS, no problem with the harshness of your thread, lol. I deserve it. I'll be sticking to a handfull of ones I know and only trying to eat ones I feel can be postively identified. Thanks for the post. Paul
  12. Dave I went back out tonight to see how they looked. Most where dried up, but some observations. They where in a ring/partial ring?? If they are gills, they are crowded and very shallow, extending down the stem. Most stayed the brown color, even with age.Very thin and wavy. I hate to say this,( because I'm an idiot) I ate what few I had last night!!! I had taken a small sample the day I found them, with no effects. I didn't notice any bad symptons, but after your post I did the biggest, fastest search on C. dealbata poisoning that I could. I had looked at that mushroom in Mushrooms Demistified and The Feild Guide, but didn't think it was it.I am way too novice at fall/summer mushrooms to have taken this chance, I won't do that again. Now that I've got that off my chest, I do think it probably is some type of Clitocybe. May be dealbata. I think if it's gills then most likely Clitocybe?? The Psuedocraerellus didn't look as wavy, but I'm getting in way over my head now, lol. I'm going to stick with some safer shrooms for eating. Thanks again for your response, it is appreciated. Paul
  13. Dave, thanks for the post. They do have what I would call false gills. There are ridges but not gills like you would normaly see. I could be wrong but thats what it looks like. Thanks again. Paul
