I'll add a couple more photos. One is a close up (sort of) of the underside and the flesh. The other is how I found it on the down tree.

Hi Dave, Yes, the flesh is spongy. The whole mushroom is soft and very white when I cut it. Suzanne

Hi Ladyfish and thank you for your response. I believe you are correct. I just figured they were always a bit darker. The underside is certainly the same. I did read that you can find them twice a year...spring and late summer if temp and humidity is good. Thank you again!! Suzanne

Hi Everyone, I hope someone can help me. I found this mushroom in the woods of KY today. At first I thought it was a Oyster but, the underside is sponge like (different size pores). I found them on a down'd log. One set on top like a plate, the others were shelf like on the side. They have a dark circle in the middle. The largest is 14 inches and it is thick (about 1/2 and inch to an inch thick). The stems are short. I hope someone can tell me about it?
