  1. Thanks, Dave. I'm so glad that boletes are a safe haven for edibles, sometimes the differences are so subtle!
  2. That explains it, thank you! I was struggling to see how it could be a normal mushroom since there wasn't anywhere for spores to drop.
  3. Hey guys, I found this mushroom-looking specimen growing on some grass on a heath in SW England. There were some brambles nearby but no trees. I'm totally stumped with this one and have no idea what it could be. Let me know what you think!
  4. Is this Boletus subtomentos? I think so because of the cracked cap but if it's something else please let me know what the distinguishing features are. Found in mixed woodland in SW England. Thanks in advance.
  5. Found under a silver birch in SW England. Thanks!
  6. Hey Dave, thanks for your response. I think the blue staining is a trick of the lighting, but it could be an indication that it's aeruginosus. However, is this species common in the UK? I've attached some more pictures of the cap, in case that helps.
  7. Found in SW England growing on a buried tree stump. Strong mushroom smell. Any help much appreciated! 😊
