  1. Thanks again Dave. I was sticking to one-per-post, but didn't want to take over the message board. Was just bowled over by how much I saw in such a short space. I'm in the area all the way until end of September, so hopefully I'm going to be seeing a whole lot more.
  2. I'll try and get better shots of the underside of the cap next time. Thanks again.
  3. Thanks Dave. The colours on this one were amazing, camera didn't do it justice.
  4. Thanks for this Dave. I'll look into these then go back to the location and see what's what.
  5. Alright, I won't keep creating new topics, don't want to shout too loud. Here's the last mushroom I'm intrigued by, the very thing ones clustered together – look psychedelic to me but I've no idea? Same area and habitat as the previous post. Also throwing in some bonus extras at the end. Like I say, was a good day out there – I saw all these in about 30-40 minutes.
  6. An amazing evening in the forest today. Think I saw about 15-20 different mushrooms all within a few hundred metres of each other. (I'm coming at this with a complete novice hat on, sorry if some of these are obvious.) I'll post a few, here's the third. Growing on a fallen tree; quite a lot of sunlight coming through. In southern Austria, Spittal area. I didn't cut/take any so no spore print.

(I'm coming at this with a complete novice hat on, sorry if some of these are obvious.) I'll post a few, here's the second. Really strange purple colour. Very firm. No bruising. Growing at the base of an old tree stump; lots of needles around. In southern Austria, Spittal area. Didn't cut/take (it was the only one like it I could see) so no spore print.

(I'm coming at this with a complete novice hat on, sorry if some of these are obvious.) I'll post a few, here's the first. Very large, the biggest about 12-inch across; no strong smell or bruising. Growing in lots of needles, some moss; mostly shaded area with some sunlight coming through. In southern Austria, Spittal area. I didn't cut/take any so no spore print.
  9. Thanks SVS, looks like you're right with both from what I can see with further research.
  10. Hey all, first post. I'm staying in southern Austria for 2 months on a writing residency. I've found a load of chanterelles/Pfifferlinge—damn delicious. And then also these two... 1. I'm pretty sure the first is a young Bay Bolete: it's firm, smells slightly sweet; fingerprint on underside/gills(?) turned brown overnight. 2. I'm less sure about these two. I think some kind of Blewitts, but want to be 100% sure before I fry them up. Very slight aniseed smell. No marking or colouring when touched. And no purple colouring which I thought I would see on Blewitts... Both (and lots more) growing in the Großegg, Spittal an der Drau, area of southern Austria: moss and needles and leaves on the ground; mix of beech and pine trees; ferns; some sun coming through but quite well shaded. Hope that's enough info, as I say, first time post.
